this is a 24 hour mexican restaurant in an old taco bell. sometimes these are great places. although trucks can be better than smaller brick stores, sometimes these fast food take over almost independents can be amazing. i did not go to a truck because i was out for one thing that i am usually now looking for.
cheese enchilada. nothing on it but sauce. and i mean no lettuce, guac, no sour cream. i want just an enchilada. a la carte. no beans, no rice. i want…. 1.
this is a way i can also test the quality of food at the restaurant, but the cooks are usually so lazy that i ordered something so simple, they do it incorrectly. and this is one of them.
so the problems were:
the counter person did not want to give me any salsa to go with my enchilada when i picked it up, as if it was a perfect seasoned and spiced gourmet creation i would wreck with the salsa
the canned enchilada sauce tasted sour and of metal. not a good brand for sure and not a good chili flavor. the main issue i had was…. cook it. i mean COOK IT.
the cheese was not melted. that is really one of the easiest cookable things to do, after melting butter. melt the f n cheese. wow. melt the cheese on a melted cheese dish….
the red salsa covered most of the tin taste of the sauce, the green sauce was sour. the unmelted cheese was… the enchilada was not good. i would take it back if i were to go there again, but i will say it seemed overpriced for 1 a la carte enchilada cooked or not. there is another mexican restaurant accross the avenue, and the new taco bell building is directly next door…….
